The UK is the fourth largest country in Europe and London is its capital city. It is a renowned financial centre and global city. The country is the first choice of many who wish to live and work abroad. Excellent standard of living, social security, vibrant economy, exotic locations, mixed culture and world-class education system keep the country right on the top for several prospective immigrants.
UK Immigration Updates
If UK Immigration is on your mind, and the destination attracts you, then you should definitely know what is the latest news on the board?
With time the UK immigration system has changed significantly. The country has initiated several new polices and abandoned many of the old ones. Future amendments in the process will surely make the immigration process more expensive and more complex for the skilled workers.
For the time being, the UK government has officially removed the assessment tool from its website. It was quite useful and helped the prospective immigrants to indentify if they were eligible to clear point system, to study or work in the country. The tool was only used to assess Tiers 1, 2, 3 and 5 categories.
Key Visa Changes
Some of the major changes to look forward to:
- Certain changes have been made under the skilled visa category i.e. Tier 2 category, which will not only make the recruitment process of the foreign trained skilled workers more complex but increase the cost as well. One of the most influencing and notable changes is that the government has increased the minimum salary requirement for the Tier 2 applicants.
However, there is also a good news report as well, until January 2019 these expensive changes will not apply to certain public sector jobs such as nurses, teachers and paramedics, and applicants under the entrant level jobs, such as graduate hires, Tier 4 to tier 2 switches, or applicants of 25 years or below will be completely exempted from it.
Considering the above changes most of the UK employers will have to bear the above costs. When this extra cost will be added with the current and future immigration cost, many employers will have to abandon their dreams of recruiting the foreign talent.
Certain changes which will come into force in 2017 is that applicants who earn high wages to become eligible to stay in the country for up to nine years under the Tier 2 category will be reduced.
Surely the latest news on UK Immigration will leave you a bit disappointed even as chances are that you may think of some other options. For clear understanding of the new policies and amendments it is advised to consult an experienced and known UK immigration consultant.
