Express Entry System: The brain child of the IRCC, this programme is now two years old. It’s a point based system, and applications are accepted electronically. Applicants are required to create an online profile with an Expression of Interest (EOI). The application is reviewed by the IRCC. Applicants whose profile look promising and who meet the eligibility criteria for one of the participating programme will enter the next round of selection. Federal Skilled Worker Programme (FSWP): Quite popular among the global skilled workers this is also a point based programme and provides PR to the eligible applicants. To qualify, the candidates must be able to score at least 67 points.

To be eligible, the applicants must meet these conditions:

  • Have at least one year full time experience out of the last ten years in the relevant occupation.
  • Must meet the requirements with a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) for arranged employment in the country. They must also have a full time job offer from an approved Canadian employer.
  • Meet the language proficiency in one of the two country’s official languages, i.e., English or French.
  • Score at least 67 points.
